Nyakio Grieco Expands the Relevant Brand with a Line of Clean, Inclusive Cosmetics.

Drawing on her over two decades of skincare experience, beauty expert, founder of Relevant and co-founder of thirteen lune, Nyakio Grieco, has expanded the vision for a more inclusive beauty landscape with Relevant cosmetics.
Starting with one product in June of 2022, a 4-in-1 sunscreen, primer, moisturizer and serum called One and Done, the formula has become a massive hit and made way for a collection of essential, inclusive and effortless to use skincare including Sol Tone Resurface and Glow Solution and the super popular Sunburst C+ Superfruit Serum.
Rooted in clean, efficacious and good for you ingredients, Relevant cosmetics follows suit of the skincare line that Grieco launched last year.
“As a long-time skincare founder, I wanted to create an inclusive range of color that prioritized skin-first, good for you ingredients that help to enhance the natural beauty of your skin.” She says. “And that work in tandem with the skincare products to level up your beauty game.”
Here, Grieco expands on why creating a color line was essential in rounding out a truly inclusive beauty routine and how tapping Nicole Richie as the face of Relevant cosmetics brings the joy and skin-first to approach to beauty to the forefront of her brand.
Why was it important to you to launch a cosmetics range as a part of the Relevant brand?
I wanted to create a line that truly celebrated all skin tones and make a gorgeous color range that is skin-first, ingredient led and that imparts a healthy and seamless finish. Every product has effortlessly buildable, beautiful coverage that celebrates and enhances the skin you’re in. This is multi-tasking, easy to use makeup that gives you the perfect amount of buildable coverage and really enhances your natural glow!
We love that you tapped Nicole Richie as the face of the launch of Relevant cosmetics. Tell us about why you chose Nicole.
She really embodies everything important to Relevant. When I think about why I created Relevant I wanted it not only to stand for inclusivity, but to be an expression of joy, authenticity, fun and optimism. Working with Nicole, it’s so clear that she possesses all of these qualities. She is a true beauty from the inside-out, which makes her the perfect Rele-Muse.
What is your absolute favorite product and color from Relevant cosmetics at the moment?
My favorite shade of Rele-Kiss Lip Gloss is Clementine. It reminds me of everything I love about citrus; the effervescent nature of it and how it’s the signature Relevant orange. It looks orange in the tube, but is more of a burst of sparkly, citrus love. It’s a gorgeous color that looks great on everyone. Also! The formula is packed with peptides, castor and plum oils that work to continuously hydrate and firm the lips with every wear. Plant-based hyaluronic acid smooths over wrinkles and creates a plump finish.
And for the Rele-Wand Lip and Cheek Multi-Stick, Plum is my current favorite as it’s the perfect pop of rich pink color. The formula glides on so easily and really hydrates the skin for a gorgeous dewy finish. The color really works on all skin tones, which is a key pillar of this brand. Skin-first ingredients work to nourish the complexion with every wear.
